“Happy-Go-Lucky” follows Poppy (Sally Hawkins) through her journey as she finds that her bicycle has been stolen and enthusiastically decides to take driver’s education. Poppy is an unusually happy person and has the ability to be optimistic in almost every situation. This story finds her happiness being put to the test when she comes across many grouchy and cynical people. Her driving lessons become a challenge with her instructor, Scott (Eddie Marsan), becoming the antagonist by being angry and uptight – the opposite of Poppy. Among other not-as-happy characters threatening to change Poppy’s world view is her sour pregnant sister and a troubled homeless man. As Poppy grows more knowledge of the world her positive outlook is tested and she must ultimately decide how it will affect her.
