Cris Johnson (Nicolas Cage) is a Las Vegas entertainer who conceals his unique gift: He can see up to 2 minutes into his own future, and use this knowledge to change it. Learning of his ability, the FBI, led by agent Callie Ferris (Julianne Moore) seeks to recruit him to help avert an upcoming major US terrorist attack. Preferring to avoid interaction with the government due to previous trauma, Johnson is instead more focused on his recurring visions of a beautiful woman who he later meets, Liz (Jessica Biel). The two elements become intertwined, though, as Liz is used by the FBI to secure the co-operation of Johnson. After she is kidnapped by the terrorists, Johnson must use his powers to save Liz, destroy the terrorist cell, and prevent a devastating nuclear explosion.
