John (Kevin Costner) is a newly divorced man who moves to South Carolina with his two children, Louisa (Ivana Baquero) and Sam (Gattlin Griffith). Things are rough for the family, as all of them deal in their own ways with the pain of their mother/wife essentially abandoning them. John is struggling to figure out how to be the father he never really was before. To make things worse, Louisa starts acting oddly, and her actions are becoming more and more violent as time goes on. After trying for awhile to figure out the source of Louisa's behavior, John discovers an ugly secret about the house the family is living in. Is there a dark secret hiding in the house, and can John figure it out and find a way to stop things before Louisa's actions take an even more evil turn?
