Roscoe Jenkins Jr (Martin Lawrence) goes by Dr. RJ Stevens on his popular talk show. He used to be a shy little southern boy, but has gone on to become rich and popular, and even has Bianca Kittles (Joy Bryant) as his token trophy fiancee. When he heads back to his hometown for his parent 50th anniversary he goes with head held high, determined to prove how great he has become. Family members like Otis (Michael Clarke Duncan), Betty (Mo'Nique), Papa Jenkins (James Earl Jones) and Mama Jenkins (Margaret Avery), quickly help RJ come to his senses and he learns a great deal, with hilarious results, about who he has become and who he was.
